Earn money from YouTube and Instagram: guides

Quick answer

You can earn from YouTube through the Partner Program (500 or 1,000 subscribers plus watch hours or Shorts views, then YouTube's review; the entry numbers for new applicants rise on 1 February 2027) and from Instagram through Meta tools where eligible, brand deals, affiliate links and your own offers. These 11 free smmozo guides explain each route step by step. No income or approval is guaranteed.

How do creators actually earn?

Most creators combine routes: platform programmes where they qualify, paid brand collaborations, affiliate links and their own offers. The guides below cover each route with the real requirements and a short plan, so you can pick the one that fits your account today.

Earning money from YouTube and Instagram: FAQ

Can I really earn money from YouTube or Instagram?

Some creators do, through the YouTube Partner Program, brand deals, affiliate links, memberships or their own products and services. None of it is guaranteed, and most creators need months of steady posting first. These guides explain each route and what it actually requires.

Do I need 1,000 subscribers to earn on YouTube?

For full ad revenue sharing, YouTube asks for 1,000 subscribers plus 4,000 valid public watch hours in 12 months or 10 million valid public Shorts views in 90 days. An early access tier starts at 500 subscribers. These apply until 31 January 2027. From 1 February 2027 new applicants need 1,000 subscribers plus 8,000 public watch hours in 365 days or 20 million public Shorts views in 90 days. Existing partners are not affected.

Is it easier to earn on YouTube or on Instagram?

It depends on your content. YouTube publishes clear Partner Program thresholds. Instagram has no single follower number, because Meta tools vary by country and account, and many creators earn through brand deals or their own offers. The guides compare both routes.

Are the smmozo guides free, and who writes them?

Yes, every guide is free to read. They are written by the smmozo editorial team from official YouTube, Google AdSense and Meta help pages, which are linked at the bottom of each guide, and each shows the date it was last updated.

Do you sell views or subscribers to get monetized?

No. Our monetization and growth optimization services focus on content, policy checks and applications. YouTube counts only valid public watch time, and fake numbers can be removed and can put a channel at risk, so we advise against buying them to qualify.

How up to date are the guides?

Each guide carries a fixed update date, currently 7 October 2026. Platform rules can change without notice, so treat the numbers as a guide and confirm the current requirements in YouTube Studio or the official help page linked in the guide.

Rules quoted in the guides come from official pages: YouTube Partner Program eligibility, the YouTube Help page on the 2027 changes, the YouTube Blog announcement and Instagram for creators. Written by the smmozo editorial team. About smmozo.
